For my EME2040 course, I am currently enrolled in an online asynchronous section. I like that I have the ability to work on the class at my own pace, and can delegate time to it in between my in person classes which always me to have some flexibility in my schedule. On the opposing side, not having a set scheduled time to work on a class can be difficult and challenges me to prioritize my time. When I am a teacher, I think I could improve my students' classroom experience by giving them flexibility with assignments to work at their own pace to teach time management. I think the classroom experience can be beneficial as a flex option to give students the ability to learn in different ways as well.
Open educational resources provides teachers and students with a variety of learning materials that allows everyone to have access to educational platforms. These resources are so beneficial because they always have the ability to be accessed, can be periodically updated, and are free. These resources are especially great because schools can distribute them with no cost, allowing students to have the best material at all times. One website I have found that can be a great OER locator is https://www.oercommons.org. This site allows the user to search for OERs based on subject, grade, or standard. The users of this website have the ability to edit, download, and upload documents. This is a great online resource not only for teachers, but students as well.
Hi Haley, great blog post! As someone with in person classes as well, I agree that it is beneficial that we are able to manage our own time in this course. It is true that sometimes this can be challenging, but setting aside time for different tasks each day ensures that I complete all my assignments by their respected deadlines.
