These past couple of weeks have been my first experiences using Diigo. I had never heard of this website before recently, and truthfully struggled in how to use the website. I like that the website allows you to easily find different links and save the ones you find useful to your library. I don't like Diigo for the set up of the site. The website is older looking and could use a facelift to make it modern and appealing to more current websites.

Blogging has not been what I expected it to be. Before this class, I didn't know too much about blogs; I was not aware that blogs were customizable and that they can have different links that lead to different areas of the blog page. One of my favorite things about blogging is getting to customize each post to make it look 'cute'! However, I am not a huge fan of how each person with a blog can have them set up differently. Though unique touches are nice, sometimes it takes me a bit to figure it out. So far I have learned many design techniques which has been fun to use! Overall, though I have learned mostly just how to operate a blog and the purposes that they can hold.

One of my favorite Web 2.0 tools is Kahoot! Kahoot is a great way for student's to showcase what they know and be publicly recognized by not only their teacher, but their peers as well. This tool is great for learning because students can showcase what they know quickly but having to think on their feet, and teachers get a chance to observe in a laid back, relaxed environment. Teachers can make their own questions for a kahoot, or allow students to create their own based on the information they know. I think Kahoot is a 9.5/10 platform overall. The only reason I would not rate it a 10 is because sometimes students click the answer to quick in an effort to 'win' the game and accidentally click the wrong answer.

I learned many new skills from creating a website for my future classroom. I enjoyed making a google calendar, which is something that I had never done before and found it to be something I can be using now! I really liked that I could make different pages for the various types of information I needed to include and found web design much easier than I had anticipated. I wasn't a fan that there wasn't a 'blank' design option, everything came with a template and all the features were not available to use through certain features which made the assignment a tad more difficult in terms of making the site as aesthetically appealing as I would have liked. Overall I was extremely please with how my site turned out and can't wait to make another web design in the near future!  My website Before taking educational technology, I had never heard of Diigo, so I was unsure what to expect and how to use the site. Sin...

I chose to look at the second grade ELA technology standards. This means that the student should be able to write, alone or with peers, using multiple types of technology to create a story with the help of adults. If I were currently a teacher, I feel as though I could help my students achieve this standard. Microsoft Word, promethean boards, and online story book creators are areas that I am well versed in and can be used to achieve this standard. These kinds of technology are some that I have used for many years, since I was in elementary school. Having these past experiences have prepared me for not only this class, but if I had to teach others as well. After looking over the Cpalms website, I found so many interesting ideas and resources that I could use for my future classroom. I appreciated how the website was organized by grade level then subject, with subsections of the tools within each subject. I p...

Introducing me

Hi! My name is Haley and this is my third year at FSU. I am passionate about working with children and hope to work in an educational setting one day. In my free time I love spending time with my family, finding new shoes to watch on Netflix, and reading a good book! I am taking this class in order to get a minor in education. My prior experiences with technology in education include Microsoft and google primarily.  I have used excel sheets, powerpoint, word documents, and digital calendars. I have also had experience working in Canva to make presentations and flyers for classes.  To support my learning needs and goals, I frequently use the internet, my planner, and the library to help me in my educational endeavors. For specific academic classes I rely on textbooks, my professors, and google docs to help me accomplish my studying and retain information. For the majority of my classwork I find myself using online...
