Teacher pages are helpful resources that can be found on a school's website to get parents and student's information that is vital to success in the classroom. Many times, these pages have special logins that only parents and students have in order to maintain privacy in the classroom. While looking around for some different teacher pages, I found Chile's high school in Tallahassee's school website that has many helpful resources that teachers have for students. Publicly,  I could tell that this school has many different options for students when it comes to class pages and that teachers can use a variety of websites to relay information to their students. These websites, which are easily accessible from the school website, can be used in many ways for students to virtually learn, communicate, and study with their teacher outside of the classroom.

As a future educator, I can see myself incorporating a variety of technology platforms into my classroom to better help not only myself, but my students as well. I believe that having a monthly google calendar go out each month that my students have access to would be a helpful resource for them, as it would give assignment dates and events for the entire month. This would keep me accountable for having things done in a timely manner and give them ample time as to when they should expect to have assignments due. I would additionally like to have a continuous google form open for suggestions that my students would like to see in the classroom. This can help my students to make me a better teacher by giving feedback on assignments and in class activities, but also letting me know what they expect from me as a teacher.
I was not the biggest fan of working on PB works as a wiki platform. For this particular website, I didn't like how multiple people could not work on the page simultaneously and that the site would lag sometimes. However, I did like that the website was easy to access and gave the option to attach links that could open in the same tab or separately. For my future students, I could use a wiki for each unit to make things easily accessible and make standards clear in the front of each page, as the purpose, and have separate links in the table of contents as study guides, powerpoint, assignments, etc.

I learned many new skills from creating a website for my future classroom. I enjoyed making a google calendar, which is something that I had never done before and found it to be something I can be using now! I really liked that I could make different pages for the various types of information I needed to include and found web design much easier than I had anticipated. I wasn't a fan that there wasn't a 'blank' design option, everything came with a template and all the features were not available to use through certain features which made the assignment a tad more difficult in terms of making the site as aesthetically appealing as I would have liked. Overall I was extremely please with how my site turned out and can't wait to make another web design in the near future!  My website Before taking educational technology, I had never heard of Diigo, so I was unsure what to expect and how to use the site. Sin...

I chose to look at the second grade ELA technology standards. This means that the student should be able to write, alone or with peers, using multiple types of technology to create a story with the help of adults. If I were currently a teacher, I feel as though I could help my students achieve this standard. Microsoft Word, promethean boards, and online story book creators are areas that I am well versed in and can be used to achieve this standard. These kinds of technology are some that I have used for many years, since I was in elementary school. Having these past experiences have prepared me for not only this class, but if I had to teach others as well. After looking over the Cpalms website, I found so many interesting ideas and resources that I could use for my future classroom. I appreciated how the website was organized by grade level then subject, with subsections of the tools within each subject. I p...

Introducing me

Hi! My name is Haley and this is my third year at FSU. I am passionate about working with children and hope to work in an educational setting one day. In my free time I love spending time with my family, finding new shoes to watch on Netflix, and reading a good book! I am taking this class in order to get a minor in education. My prior experiences with technology in education include Microsoft and google primarily.  I have used excel sheets, powerpoint, word documents, and digital calendars. I have also had experience working in Canva to make presentations and flyers for classes.  To support my learning needs and goals, I frequently use the internet, my planner, and the library to help me in my educational endeavors. For specific academic classes I rely on textbooks, my professors, and google docs to help me accomplish my studying and retain information. For the majority of my classwork I find myself using online...
