I learned many new skills from creating a website for my future classroom. I enjoyed making a google calendar, which is something that I had never done before and found it to be something I can be using now! I really liked that I could make different pages for the various types of information I needed to include and found web design much easier than I had anticipated. I wasn't a fan that there wasn't a 'blank' design option, everything came with a template and all the features were not available to use through certain features which made the assignment a tad more difficult in terms of making the site as aesthetically appealing as I would have liked. Overall I was extremely please with how my site turned out and can't wait to make another web design in the near future! My website

Before taking educational technology, I had never heard of Diigo, so I was unsure what to expect and how to use the site. Since using the website, I have found it easy to navigate and easily accessible. In my future classroom, I believe that this website can be helpful in sharing resources with students and could also be used for students to write discussion posts about articles on. Professionally, Diigo is a great way for teachers to be able to share different educational tools and tips with each other, by utilizing the tags feature.  For using a group project Diigo can be a wonderful way to share different sources that might need to be compiled for a paper or presentation, where the teacher can see what each group member contributed.

Technology is a large part of helping teachers advance in professional development. Sending emails, attending webinars, workshops, and seminars, the list is endless. Teachers are always learning new things in the realm of technology and many times are the first group of people to work with the newest, most popular technology. Teachers have a difficult task of always staying up to date on what is current with technology and tryin got incorporate it into their classroom for the benefit of their students. Professional development within the field of teaching is harder than other professions, in my opinion, because of how ever changing it is and the high standard that is put on teachers to always be in the know of what is new.
I found this website that has a multitude of different articles, that are updated daily, all about education which many being about technology. This could be a great website would be a great resource for teachers to big new and exciting things for their classroom in technology.

  1. Hi Haley! I feel the same way about making a Google calendar, I never used one until making one for my class website, but plan to use it for keeping track of real events in the future.

  2. Hi Haley! Your website looks wonderful! You follow the design principles perfectly. You include contrast in the colors of the background and the words (dark-light, black-white, etc.). The pictures are evenly spaced throughout the page (proximity). You have good control over the alignment--the borders and margins are consistent. And you use the same font for the smaller letters (not captions or titles) as well as bullet points for the vocabulary part, which adhere to repetition.

  3. Hey Haley! I love the theme of your website, I really like that you went with science and chose outer space it looks super cool. Everything on the site is so neat and easy to access, super good job :)

Teacher pages are helpful resources that can be found on a school's website to get parents and student's information that is vital to success in the classroom. Many times, these pages have special logins that only parents and students have in order to maintain privacy in the classroom. While looking around for some different teacher pages, I found Chile's high school in Tallahassee's school website that has many helpful resources that teachers have for students. Publicly,  I could tell that this school has many different options for students when it comes to class pages and that teachers can use a variety of websites to relay information to their students. These websites, which are easily accessible from the school website, can be used in many ways for students to virtually learn, communicate, and study with their teacher outside of the classroom. Chile's High School class pages As a future educator, I can see myself incorporating a...

Before this class, I had never really used twitter. I was aware how twitter worked and had my friends show me funny tweets frequently but never thought about having a profile for myself. I haven't found twitter to be super beneficial, but it does provide some good humor from time to time. In my future career, twitter won't be a very helpful source to my students or my profession as I would like to be a speech pathologist. Unfortunately the digital divide is something that greatly affects students across the entire country and even the world. As many students do not have access to technology and as the world grows more dependent on technology, these students are falling behind. Due to this, I will need to fight for technological equality for my future students by introducing them to different  technology. This may be difficult, but if the work is put in I think I can be successful in advocating for them. Academic software can be a blessing and a curse in the classroom. Sometimes...

These past couple of weeks have been my first experiences using Diigo. I had never heard of this website before recently, and truthfully struggled in how to use the website. I like that the website allows you to easily find different links and save the ones you find useful to your library. I don't like Diigo for the set up of the site. The website is older looking and could use a facelift to make it modern and appealing to more current websites. Blogging has not been what I expected it to be. Before this class, I didn't know too much about blogs; I was not aware that blogs were customizable and that they can have different links that lead to different areas of the blog page. One of my favorite things about blogging is getting to customize each post to make it look 'cute'! However, I am not a huge fan of how each person with a blog can have them set up differently. Though unique touches are nice, sometimes it take...
